Animatric (storyboard) music video

Here is my animatric music video which is based on my 1st storyboard which was created by my intial ideas for my music video. Due to my chosen song length; i had to cut out some parts of my original storyboard so the images and song will flow together - creating continuity and narrative development as the song plays.

This can be linked to the Representation Theory - John Bergers 'Way of Seeing' - By showing images of these instruments is conveys the genre conventions of 'Alternative Rock'; so my audience will understand the ideology behind these images of instruments.

This is linked to Richard Dyer - understanding representations and ideologies through the media.
'How we are seen determines how we are treated, how we treat others is based on how we see them. How we see them comes from representation.‘ (Dyer 1983).
Representations help us understand the media text, and it helps us catergorise the ideology so we understand the meaning.
Tim o'sullivan et all (1998) - Ideology refers to the set of beliefs or veiws in a selcetive society which we all have the common sense of them. Ideology helps us make judgements about the world and the different veiws of people in within it.

This links to Tessa Perkins - Stereotypes - Since these instruments are a convention of my chosen genre; the audience will understand the genre immediately.

Health & Safety Production Grid

This is the grid I have made that I will fill out for health and safety reasons during my production. From the headings i will be filling out any harazards i came across, how much of a risk they were to either myself or the cast, and how they can be avoided.

Location shots

Here are some test shots i have taken, referencing to my location ideas:

Pictures (left and below) are shots of the forest i will be filiming in; a public pathway to Hessle from North Ferriby. As seen in the shots; i will be filimg establishing shots and long shots of the the trees.
There is also a Tyre Swing present which will be used as a prop.

These are low angle shots (above and right) of the trees above and (below) a medium shot which all will used in my wood scene, these are also going to be used as establishing shots so the audience understands where the characters are and it will develop the narrative.

To the left, here is the female characters bedroom where i will be shooting in some parts of my video; as you can see by the posters on the wall this girl is in the Alternative Rock genre (Paramore Poster) and likes bands which are from that specific genre. The bedroom is feminine by the matching bed duvet with curtains. The dominant colour of this bedroom is red; this can connote the female character as passionate or fiery. The fact she has a double bed can connote to the audience that she does not sleep alone so she is in a relationship. Which will be seen by the audience in the narrative.

As seen below, here are still images of the females bathroom where i will be shooting in my video also; it is feminine due to the pink matts on the floor, the shell toilet seat and the bathroom objects around the bath. The fact the bathroom is in white can connote to the audience that she is a protagonist character, or she is innocent and pure. The contrast against the white background with the female character will create focus on her by the audience.

Costume Ideas:

Girl:
COSTUME 1: Dark Costume:
Due to the Alternative Genre; the two costume ideas i will be influenced by the Actress/Singer, and model 'Taylor Momsen' she is the lead singer and lead guitarist of the band 'The Pretty Reckless' which is featured in the Alternative Rock genre.
Her style is stereotpyical for the genre i am specifing in; the dark eye make up, slender petite figure, long hair and dark black clothes - it deffinetly reflects the connotations veiwers have to the Alternative Genre.

As you can see by the featured pictures of Taylor Momsen; her style is dark, black, gothic and provocative by revealing certain aspects of her body which may seem as 'slutty' this can be supported by theorists Laura Mullvey's 'Male Gaze' that Taylor is dressing the way she does to be 'attractive' or 'sexy' for her audience.
Her make up consists of heavy black eye make up, pale faced, sometimes adding black or dark lipstick but majority of her make up will focus on her eyes. Her hair is long and tangled - giving off the 'trashy' 'messy' look. Her clothes are dark, black, Gothic, her legs or cleavage are usually on show, either shorts, long tops, revealing dresses or ripped jeans. She usually wears black heeled boots or boots. Her jewelry are long necklaces - crosses, chains or chokers and bracelets - all black or silver to add to her rock style.

COSTUME 2: Colourful Costume:
Although Taylor is normally perceived as a dark Gothic dresser; she can also dress in a 'girly' way too. She is seen in colourful clothes, fresh faced; natural make up and short hair - this shows a younger Taylor; probably before becoming the lead singer of the Alternative Rock band 'The Pretty Reckless'.

Her natural 'girly' style is colourful, feminine and cute. Her clothes are normally dresses which are bright and vibrant - like orange, yellow, white. Her make up is natural; sun-kissed, little eye make up - eye liner, eye shadow and mascara, with added blusher and bronze to give her cheeks a glow. She only puts lip gloss on her lips to add to the natural look. Being a stereotypical girly girl; linked to theorist Tessa Perkins and her theory of Stereotypes. By the girly girl stereotypical look of natural make-up and colourful, cute, feminine clothes.

COSTUME 1 & 2 can be linked to theorist Levi Strauss and his theory of 'Binary Opposites' by the use of the two different costumes; how they are contrasting each other and are opposite. The audience will understand the connotations by the use of colour and typical stereotypes. The dark costume the audience will understand the narrative by representing nagative connotations by the use of black and gothic clothing; and like wise for the colourful vibrant costume. The fact there is a change in the costume; the audience will understand the development of the narrative.

COSTUME 3: PJ/Bed Costume

For the bed costume, i decided to stick to plain block colours (like the featured pictures) and have the girl in a long male plain top with plain shorts underneath. This is so the audience will think the top is her boyfriend's who will be featured in the video.

Cast List:

My initial idea is about a couple home-made video; it will feature 2 characters; one female and one male.

Possibilities:

Male Character:
1. Liam Dale - Role: Boyfriend
I have chosen Liam because he is at Wyke College and will be aviable for filming, and i will be able to communicate with him about filming either during college time or outside of college. To add a bonus, he is the boyfriend of Sabrina Vizor (who i am considering to play the female role) so the couple chemistry will not be awkward or hard to believe.
Liams apperance best fits the Alternative Rock genre; because has a plug in his ear and a tattoo on his arm; he also has band t-shirts like Biffy Clyro - which is a band of the Alternative Rock genre. All these a stereotypical observations linked to the specific genre.

2. Mathew Marsden - Role: Boyfriend

Female Character:
1. Sabrina Vizor - Role: Girlfriend
I have chosen Sabrina because she is also attending Wyke College and i will be able to communicate to her about filming either during college time or outside of college. To add a bonus, she is the girlfriend of Liam Dale.
Sabrina's appearance will suite the look im going to create because she is slender, tall with long dark hair. She will suite both colourful clohes and the dark black clothes by the choice of outfits and the style of make-up.

Alternative Rock Mood Board - referncing to artists, clothing and brands.
